ICO ‘slaps’ two charities for DP breaches

If you handle sensitive information about vulnerable groups, you really should be encrypting all the data you hold about them. Two charities holding information about vulnerable children had computers stolen from the homes of staff, according to ICO’s press release. The unecrypted information could easily be read by anyone using a recovery disk.

Ubuntu makes disk encyrption extremely easy — you can simply choose an option during installation, enter a password and that’s that! All the information on your hard disk will be seamlessly encrypted and you will hardly notice.

Come to FOSS Friday if you want to know more . . .
